Could we develop a section called, say, "Contributions" in which we summarize the contributions of songbird research to science in general?
For example, following from the SfN Songbird Satellite meeting, what are the concrete ways that songbird research has influenced thinking, understanding and analysis of basal ganglia function in mammals?
Another familiar example (getting kind of "old" now though) is the rediscovery of adult neurogenesis which helped to inspire research in mammals on hippocampal neurogenesis and neurogenic stem cells.

I have an old NIMH document called "What We Learned from Songbirds" that would be a good addition to that section. I'll upload it as soon as there's a clear place to do so.
